On an extremely hot and sunny day, 160 players from forty Sussex clubs competed in this Foursomes competition at the Cathedral Course, Chichester. The competition was a combined stableford score for the two pairs, from each of the clubs. There were some great and varied scores with clearly some players adjusting to the away greens and the course’s many penalty areas, much quicker than others.

A special mention should go to Chris Kernohan (Haywards Heath GC), who had an impressive hole in one on the 13th hole. For most, it was just a great feeling to be, at last, once more competing against local rivals in a county event.

A huge thank you to Chichester’s Lady Captain, Sue Ward, who supervised a fantastic team of volunteers both on the course and around the club house. Their help was gratefully appreciated.

The winning team was Cottesmore Golf Club with an impressive 74 points (Jill Lewis & Heather Skinner 38 points and Irene Matheson & Charlotte Topping 36 points).

Runner-up was the team from Crowborough Beacon Golf Club with 73 points (Anita Amies & Vicky McLean 39 points and Lynn Collett & Sandra Munt 34 points).

Well done to everyone who took part in this event, players and organisers.
