Salysa Mason, Junior Captain 2021

‘Hi All, my name is Salysa Mason and I am so excited to be this years Sussex Girls Junior County Captain!

For those of you that don’t know me, I am a member at Cottesmore Golf club, and this will be my 6th year playing for the Sussex Girls. I started playing golf at the age of 4 and began competing at the age of 10, I got into golf purely to beat my older brother and I eventually fell in love with the game. At the age of 12 I was accepted to play for the England Girls South-East Regional Squad, this will now be my 5th year in the team.

Some of my goals in golf are to play on the LPGA, become world number 1, play in the Solheim cup and to beat my coach at a least one chipping competition! I have a great support network around me, not only does this include my family but also my coach, Rob Chruszcz. We work together to get the best out of my golf game and he never fails to come up with new ways to improve my game. I think it’s very important to find the right person to help you progress in your game, someone who understands your work ethic and goals.

I joined Sussex girls at the back end of 2015, since then I have made some amazing friendships and fun memories. Not only have I enjoyed myself but I have learnt hundreds of things on the way. Sussex are known as the team with a close bond, we all support each other in everything we do and it is one of the greatest teams to be apart of. This year as captain I would love to see the girls junior section grow and for more opportunities to be made for the girls that I wish I had as a young female golfer.

I am so lucky to have this amazing opportunity and I am so excited to see what come of this year. I wish everyone the best of luck this year and to stay safe and healthy!’
